Any new roof on a new or existing structure, and any reroofing of an existing structure of 50% or more of the total roof area within a one-year period, shall be of a fire retardant roof covering material that is Class A or equivalent as defined in California Building Code, as adopted and amended by the State Building Standards Commission.
